Iran’s “Dressage” wins jury award of Generation section in Berlin

Tehran (ISNA) – At the closing ceremony of the 68th Berlin International Film Festival, Iranian film “Dressage” won an award.

The 14plus International Jury of the 41th Generation awards the Special Mention to the Iranian feature film “Dressage” directed by Pooya Badkoobeh.

Negar Moghaddam, Yasna Mirtahmasb, Baset Rezaei, Houshang Tavakoli, Ali Mosaffa, Shabnam Moghaddami, Beh Afarid Ghafarian, Shayan Fasihzadeh, Rambod Motalebi, Lotfollah Seifi have played in this film.

An ethical tale for a new era, the youth drama “Dressage” powerfully illustrates the consequences of growing social divisions within contemporary Iranian society and indicts a middle and upper class that have lost their moral center. Helmer Pooya Badkoobeh’s debut feature centers on an alienated teen, from a family of modest means, who breaks with her group of wealthier, amoral peers after they all commit a thrill-seeking crime. Bolstered by a special mention in the Generations 14plus section of the 2018 Berlinale, further fest play is a given for this provocative look at power, money, hypocrisy, and the gap between generations that feels inspired by the work of director Mohammad Rasoulof.

‘Dressage’ tells the story of Golsa and her friends who, motivated primarily by boredom rather than greed, rob a corner shop.

The 68th edition of the Berlinale has been held in the German city on February 15-25, 2018.
